FantasyGuru24 270
Any chance he doesn’t finish as a topi 3 back next year with the new coaching change and offense or is he the most bulletproof/safest player to draft #1 in recent times?

Only way is with injury which can happen with any back, luckily his handcuff will probably be undrafted. He's the unquestioned #1 guy.

Agree with the other post, only injury will take him down next season
DeliciousGravy 248
$100 for him, $100 for Lamar, bunch of waiver-wire superstars, see you in the finals. (I'm being facetious but in this uncertain economy CMC is like the $US)

Does the old saying of not being smart to pay RBs big money still apply here? Or is CMC the exception to the rule? Why not make him play out his rookie contract, franchise tag him back to back years and then sign him to a short term team friendly deal or draft his replacement and move on? That would make the most sense from a business perspective, no? Edited April 8, 2020 by DerrickHenrysCleats

Which almost never pans out ... especially toward the backend of said contract, where production starts to dip heavily. With that being said , I believe generational talents like Saquon & McCaffrey could be the ones to buck that trend. These are the RB’s who can make something out of nothing. Regardless of QB play, bad O-lines , weak offenses, etc.. You could throw King Hendry in the conversation as well , but I view him more as a Physical Freak of Nature , the likes which we have never seen; with that Rhino size + speed.

A mention in the same breath as the first 2 was all I was looking for. As has been covered countless times, the major difference between Henry and them is the lack of involvement in the passing game. More complete backs should demand a higher salary. Being the talent your entire offense is built around should also demand a higher salary, especially when that carried your team to 1 game shy of the super bowl and is capable of doing it again. And I’m sure it will result in a much higher annual salary than Saquon and Christian will command in 2020.

Too bad TEN disagrees with you. They’re smart enough to know that Henry isn’t worth a multiyear deal. He is the perfect player to franchise and run into the ground. Mostly it was. The owner wanted him to make changes to his coaching staff, specifically Terry Robiskie for his misuse of the offense. Mularkey would not so he got fired. I’m not denying that Mularkey’s stubbornness with respect to Robiskie and other coaches didn’t factor into the decision. I’m simply pointing out that Henry was being utilized as a true bell-cow down the final stretch of Mularkey’s tenure. His firing wasn’t due to any reluctance to feed Henry the ball.
