The G Man 1,069
KE'SHAWN VAUGHN, RB TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS Buccaneers selected Vanderbilt RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn with the No. 76 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. An Illinois transfer, Vaughn (5’10/214) posted back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons as Vanderbilt’s starter over the past two seasons. His 1,244 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 2018 put him on the NFL map, but his 2019 rushing production was constricted by the Commodore’s 125th ranked offense. On tape, Vaughn makes defenders miss while running downhill, showcasing nice vision with just enough wiggle to set up broken tackles as a physical runner. He set a new career-high with 28 receptions as a redshirt senior and is good enough to play on passing downs, though he profiles best as a complementary runner in the NFL. Vaughn’s primary knocks are his age — he’ll be a 23-year-old rookie — and 41st percentile adjusted SPARQ athleticism. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds. With only Ronald Jones between him and touches, Vaughn has found an excellent first-year landing spot. Apr 24, 2020, 10:17 PM ET
JE7HorseGod 2,702
Not much of a threat to RoJo IMO. I'm shocked they didn't get one of the big five.

SharkSwimmer 4,960
Arians is already on record being down on Ronald Jones. Then they go out and use a high draft pick on a running back who is good in the running game and in the passing game. I predict that Ronald Jones will be getting plenty of rest, not reps, this season.

He's pretty JAG-y to me.

I predict that Ronald Jones will be getting plenty of rest, not reps, this season. “Both GM Jason Licht and head coach Bruce Arians remain high on Jones' upside, although that won't preclude them from focusing on the running back position in the upcoming draft, Carmen Vitali of the team's official site reports. Licht was effusive in his praise of Jones during a Thursday conference call with reporters, noting the team thinks the third-year back "hasn't even scratched the surface of what he can be." That type of sentiment would have been virtually inconceivable with respect to Jones at this time last year, as the USC product was coming off an utterly forgettable rookie season in which he rushed for just 44 yards at a minuscule 1.9 yards per carry. However, Jones made significant strides in 2019, generating a 172-724-6 line on the ground that he complemented with 31 receptions. His work through the air supports the notion Jones is on the path to becoming a legitimate every-down back, but Licht notes the team will enter this year's draft still looking to fortify the position. "We have a lot of faith in Ronald, and in fact, we have more faith in him now that we ever have," Licht said. "But that's another position, as you can tell [when] you look across the league, some of the better teams they have one, two or three guys, sometimes four, that they can rely on in different roles in their offense." LostAtSea 81
Vaughn isnt bad but he certainly doesn't bring any trait to the table that is elite. He was in a group of rookie RBs for me that were ranked right after the big tier drop after RB5, that included Moss, Dillon, McFarland, and Gibson. But that was a BIG tier drop between CEH, JT, Dobbins, Swift, Akers and those guys. I think the fact that TB added Brady, Gronk, and a stud OT, and passed on RB multiple times to draft a really uninspiring projected backup, tells me that TB is in on RoJo as their guy and have given him an insane amount of firepower and blocking in front of him to run behind. But Vaughn himself for fatnasy purposes? I just don't see it
turner46 873
Arians chose David Johnson 86th overall in 2015 as the 7th RB off the board. Arians chose Ke'Shawn Vaughn 76th overall as the 8th RB off the board. I believe in Bruce and also believe in TB12 targeting RB's early and often and the one who will benefit in terms of targets and receptions is Vaughn.
markrc99 617
Ke'Shawn Vaughn is a Bruce Arians type of player, team guy, a real asset in any locker room. He was an Illinois transfer, where he was their highest '15 recruit. But beat out by Kendrick Foster & Reggie Corbin. At Vandy, he performed better. But suspecting he'll beat out Ronald Jones would seemingly be a major reach. Edited April 25, 2020 by markrc99

I had some fun and plotted the draft grades for that year (as per NFL.com) against the current Career AV (as indicated on sportsreference.com). I mean it's clear that there is some correlation, the experts aren't completely clueless... but it's hardly a cert. The numbers are all over the place. 2

SharkSwimmer 4,960
I don't need a chart to tell me that Arians is down on Ronald Jones and that Vaughn is his guy. Arians was benching Jones for the rest of the game for one missed assignment last year in favor of Peyton F. Barber. And if you haven't figured it out by now, the Bucs are vying for the title of top offseason puff-piece generator. Remember last year when they spent all summer praising OJ Howard and saying how much they were going to use him as an offensive weapon. Yeah. And hi from me, too @Boudewijn 1 1

And hi from me, too @Boudewijn From an athletic standpoint, I think Barber is a good comparison for Vaughn. Tampa's offense was pretty fantasy friendly last year, Barber was not. So I hope that they use RoJo more, because the alternative is that both guys are not really viable every week options in fantasy leagues.
turner46 873
"You can see them all run; I want to see them catch," said Arians of the upcoming running back workout. "In college football they don't do a lot of pass-blocking, so that's always a big step for them. Can they be a receiver? That separates guys from having to come off the field. I had Christian Okoye who led the league but he never played on third down. Edgerrin James never came off the field. Marshall Faulk never came off the field. For me, I'm looking for that type of guy." On phone, next quote coming will be comparing Vaughn to David Johnson.

Vaughn is a COP at best in 2020. 120 touches would be huge for him. Arians is notoriously tough on rookies and Rojo has garnered as much or more praise as any other back in the league from TB bosses. it’s Jones’ show folks. Don’t confuse yourselves any further
