Wow - a freak injury occurred from him being tackled. Not a hamstring, not something from just running. But he got tackled awkwardly and twisted his body.  Please kindly escort yourself out for p

Um Carson got 20 touches to Hyde's 7 and he got a TD, what more do u want? 😆

Haven't really paid attention to this SEA backfield. How much of a lock does Carson have on the starter position? Rashaad Penny or Homer a threat at all when he's healthy?

Neither are a threat IF Carson and Hyde are healthy. Carson is the bellcow and Hyde is the cuff to own. Now if they can't stay on the field then it seems to be Dallas for now. Penny seems to be pretty far off from returning from his injury.

Carson was good trade bait last week.  This is now becoming a bit too much of a routine and risque.  I'd use him as trade bait if you need a flex or RB option to actually play this week.

Two lower leg injuries already...the risk is only heightened for further injury during the most critical of times (cough week 16 championship. Doh)

Who the hell do we cuff Carson with between all these other guys?

I think Dallas made it clear last week that he can handle a majority (79%?) of the snaps when the opportunities are there.

I’d cuff with Dallas.

Yeah it's messy for sure. It's Dallas for now but if he's just mediocre this weekend Hyde's right back in the mix, and Penny should be in a couple of weeks.

Ultimately, if we're talking like playoff run handcuff for Carson my guess is Penny.

I don't fully get why we assume Penny is the cuff to own.  He hasn't sniffed the practice field yet and is coming off a nasty injury. IMO I don't think he takes the field this season.  I'm banking on Hyde being the cuff when everyone is healthy, which is obv a big if.  Until then Dallas seems to be a decent fill-in for Carson.  Hopefully Carson sitting last week lets him come back semi-healthy. Either way there's production to be had whoever the starting RB is here.

Dallas was barely able to squeeze out 2 YPC. He didn’t look good at all. The only reason he got the work is because he was the only RB not injured other than Homer who is in no way a full time back.

If Hyde is healthy Dallas is irrelevant in fantasy.

It’ll be Hyde. The problem with him is he’s been so fragile this year

No doubt about that. I'm with ya on the injury, it was brutal, far from a guarantee Penny's 100% at all this year.

That said he's the most talented and well-rounded back on this team by a pretty wide margin (in terms of backing up Carson). Hyde is shot, he's a low-end JAG. He's looked pedestrian for a couple of years now. Dallas is a JAG as well, nothing special about him, and while he put up fantasy points last week his per touch numbers were atrocious. Then Homer's obviously just a gadget/COP guy.

Hyde has been on five teams in four years, doesn't catch balls anymore, is clinging by a thread to 4 YPC over the last several years, and he essentially isn't capable of plodding for more than a 20-yard run. If Penny is 100% in the next few weeks, big if I know, he leapfrogs Hyde. I think that's a virtual guarantee.

Didn't he rush for over 1000 yards last year in Houston? Not saying he's a stud but I don't think he's chopped liver either.

I owned Penny for 2 years, so I know firsthand how slow on the uptake he's been. He finally began to get it late last year and then completely nuked his knee. Forgive if I have a hard time believing he'll immediately pick up where he left off when he's practicing again(whenever that is)

If you think Hyde sucks you haven't really been paying attention to him. He literally just rushed for 1k yards and 4.4 ypc last year. He's more than capable of still being an effective NFL running back

He did, and he's not, but it was more like a Frank Gore/Lamar Miller 1,000 yards if that makes sense. Nothing against those guys, but the numbers look much better than the product IMO. Those guys look terrible when you watch them. No juice, no burst, no power, very ordinary. Then when you combine that with the fact that Hyde's anything but dynamic in the passing game there days and you're left with someone Penny has the talent to very easily leapfrog.

Gotta disagree with you here. Dallas showed health and trust with 23 touches, and the 49ers run D is pretty stout. It was his first full-time game and he has draft capital invested in him. Maybe the coaching staff thinks he may not be ready this year, hence why they signed Hyde.

Hyde however is showing that he is not dependable and can't stay off the injury report. He's 30 with decent wear on him and has banged his body around a ton.

Dallas is the handcuff to own, and Dallas has lots of ways to improve...wouldn't be surprised of a RB1 finish in Buffalo this weekend.

I lean that Penny is the #2 to own IF healthy. That's a big if though seeing as he still hasn't logged a single practice since that horrific injury. He looked really good towards the end of last year, and I have a hard time believing he plays behind lesser Mark Ingram (in Hyde) and a fourth round RB in Dallas. Deejay was serviceable, but by no means did he look great last week.

Penny was a first round pick developing for a couple years, had some monster games towards the end of last year. Carson is due for a nice heftier contract next year -- I think the Seahawks definitely want to see what they have in Penny if he can return this year. Again though, that's the big IF question. Can he get healthy this season?

SF run defense is decent. Just inside the top 10 for YPC and total yards. So it isn't terrible but nothing to be scared of either.

I mean if by showing trust you mean not fumbling sure. You also have to take into account in the first half he only had 5 carries for 9 yards. It's not hard to give anyone a bunch of carries up by multiple scores. Point being, I wasn't impressed at all. Not a single run made me go "wow". As for draft capital, a 4th round isn't anything at all to write home about.

I'm not trying to bash the dude or anything and would love for him to beast (especially considering Carson is likely gone after this year). However, so far I haven't been impressed and Hyde has looked really solid. Yes, if you want to argue that Hyde can't stay on the field sure there's a case but if both are suiting up Hyde is the one with value.
