aapox 896
Thanks, Jairo. Thanks a lot. Ugh! I might drop him after that. His stuff really isn't that good.

JameisofThrones 218
Bard bails out the Rockies after Jairo couldn't clean up a mess in the ninth -- came in with two on with an 8-3 lead and let both inherited runners score and two more while getting only one out. Normally I'd say just a blip but it's not like Jairo has built up a lot of confidence or is a proven closer so as an owner I'm a little worried and just took a flyer on Bard. Probably a lot to ask of him to go from basically out of baseball to closing at Coors, but he has always had the stuff. We'll see.

I don't know much about Jairo before this year but it seems like he has middle reliever type stuff. Decent arsenal but not overpowering and no real put-aways. Most outings I've seen he's giving up hits and hard contact outs. Do you think he'll hold the role (Jairo) or he's worth moving on from? To his credit he was 3/3 on saves before. aapox 896
Pressly in looking very mediocre again. 1-run lead holding on by a fingernail. It's been fly-out, walk, single so far. Ugh!

I wouldn't dump Jairo just yet. I'd still guess he get the next opportunity but figure its worth stashing Bard just in case until we get some more clarity on the situation.

Any thoughts? My immediate reaction is its absolute Closer Chaos when you have a guy ranked #18 who has only thrown 2/3 of an inning this year and is supposedly in a committee.
Brooklyn Dude 484
Following closers is like playing Russian roulette. Not easy getting lucky and finding a gem on the waiver wire this year. Looking at that list, Rafael Montero should have leapfrogged a few of those names. His stuff has looked really good.

Any thoughts? Recency bias doesn’t really apply to closer rankings. These guys (And most commercial rankings) are always behind the 8 ball. Always.
Ultraa 53
Closer rankings don't really matter past opening day. Closers are basically binary, either they're getting save opps or they're not. Ranking which relievers are most likely to switch into getting opps is much more important, hence the popularity of this thread. Edited August 12, 2020 by Ultraa

They are useless,if not harmful. This forum however usually gets me about 2 stud closers every year.
