#PisEdiRin ?

IF you sat Dallas G this week, you need to re-evaluate your process. In this TE wasteland you can't bench a guy that is on the field running that many routes and seeing targets.

It's not that crazy, Graham had a great volume in week 1 and was targeted a lot in the redzone. Goedert has a lot of competition with Ertz, I'm not saying I agree with him though, but I can understand why he thinks that way

Yeah i considered that. But you could also look at it and say graham got all that opportunity and turned it into 10 pts. Is he likely to get 8 targets (4 in the endzone) ever again?  He turned that into 10 pts.

To Roster.

Hurst was on the field/ran a lot of routes so I am hesitant to jump ship. You’d think Ertz is going to be more involved going forward.

I believe Hurst played on 78% of offensive snaps in week 1.  The argument is that he is battling for targets behind 3 WRs in Atlanta.  He has a favorable match-up against Dallas this week though.

I too am flipping between Hurst/Goedert and have not made a decision yet but it's certainly close.

I was researching lots of Goedert information yesterday, while trying to determine my FAAB for him last night. Since Week 7 of the 2019 season, here are the regular season PPR numbers for the top 10 TE's within the period mentioned:

That doesn't include the one postseason game either, where he had 7 catches for 73 yards (14.3 PPG).

Right there with you guys, and as much as I hate chasing points at the TE position, Goedert has already shown what he is capable of doing whereas Hurst is still living on "potential." I think I'm gonna side with the known quantity for a few weeks and see how it shakes out. In a shootout like this past Sunday I would have hoped for a lot more opportunity for Hurst.

I am super high on Goedert.   I watched him the second half of 19 and it became clear to me that he is as good/if not better than Ertz.   Wentz is locked in on his tight ends and they are pretty much 1A/1B right now.   I also feel there is a chance with the Eagles injuries Ertz could get traded.   Even if he does not get traded Goedert will give you a safer floor than most other tight ends.

Hurst on most weeks will be the #3 option . Gage is #4

Don't look into Week 1 too much.

But regardless Hurst or Goedert is a great problem to have.

he's a proven vet, not some green rookie. this will have 0 impact

Agreed. Wentz trusts Ertz (see past three years of targets). If Ertz is open he'll get the ball as usual. Wentz isn't gonna see Ertz open and think "hmm he did drop one ball in a clutch situation recently maybe I should find my next read." I guess a drop could affect the way plays are called involving Ertz, but again don't think one drop changes anything.

Obviously fumbles affect carries, but I can't think of a time a proven receiver got demoted for even several drops let alone one.

Ertz contract dispute, on the other hand, could potentially impact him negatively.  Goedert may be the heir apparent, although they are both on the field for the most part.

Seems like 7pts is a safe floor we can expect for Goedert. I was expecting a little more in this one tho.Thoughts?

still got 8 targets, and more than Ertz.  Not going to blow up every game but should still be a top 10 option.  The tough thing for most who own him is picking between him or our other fringe TE1 starters each week.

Yeah I'm in that boat. I started him over Jonnu this week and it ended up costing me the win. The hard part with Goedert is it will be hard to predict when his good games will come. At least with other fringe TEs you can analyze matchups and usage a little bit better because you don't have the other variable factor of dealing with Ertz on a weekly basis. Unless Ertz gets traded, you just gotta be comfortable rolling the dice starting him and hope for the best. I think Sanders being healthy will also cap his ceiling a little bit with Sanders getting a lot of targets and goal line carries.

I'd agree that this was pretty much his floor.

Also, he was WIDE open on a 15-20-yarder and Wentz flat out didn't see him. They connect there and we're talking about him being a top 5 TE this year.

SO this. I've got Higbee. They've each had one huge week and I've gone 0 for 2 in terms of who to start. Goedert was drafted so late most people are likely in that same boat.

Same, but I actually dropped Higbee for him and now that looks like a terrible move.  Happens every time you try to chase points it seems.  As long as he is getting targeted a lot and redzone looks I think we'll be fine.

Yes I’d wager most Goedert owners also have one of Jonnu, Higbee, Gesicki, etc and probably a lot of them are pulling their hair out starting the wrong one each week.  In a few more weeks though these guys might start separating themselves a bit as to which are truly breakouts.
