A lot. There are guys without more than 2 months at bats selling for thousands of dollars every day. Vlad has big hobby appeal!

Is this one of those Non Fungible Token things like those NBA Hotshots going for thousands?

Being in shape obviously helps but these over the top comments show me that a lot of the pessimism on Vlad is not strictly about his baseball skills.

Of course.  Mental game, commitment, etc. are important to any endeavor.  Very often the person with the most raw ability or skill is out performed by someone who works harder or just gets lucky.

On top of that, there can just be some X factor.  Out of the big 3 SPs, only Cole was expected to be a Cy guy. And even in his case, it took a while to come together.  If he'd never been traded, who knows what would have happened.

You can't assume that all the pieces are going to fall into place for anybody. If they've shown in the past that they don't really have much motivation to make it happen, then even more so.

I have some old Blue Jays rookie cards lying around the house.  Does a Jimmy Key rookie card also go for thousands?

Say yes and be my new best friend.

No...

But if you can get some Vlad's, Acuna, Soto, Tatis JR etc... in your portfolio you might be able to retire. If you are a risk taker get some Bobby Witt Jr and Jasson Dominguez and you won't be able to retire yet but it is possible in a year or 2 or 5.

I'm not  sure where Vlad Guerrero will rank on the play-o-meter at the end of the season, but this discussion is prohibitive front-runner for thread of the year.

Why does he hit it in the dirt if he is so gifted? Is he Eric Hosmer?

Juan Soto "hits in in the dirt" at nearly the same rate. Is he gifted?

Is Eric Hosmer a 22 year old going into his 3rd season?

It's ridiculous that so many are quick to rush to judgement on a 22 year old as if he doesn't have time to continue his development.

Imagine a prime Aaron Judge year. But with a 15% k rate instead of 30%. That’s what Vlad is capable of.

The ceiling is so very high. And the floor figures to be a .800 OPS guy in one of the deepest lineups in baseball.

Stop the hate, folks.
