He was dealing with this in pre-season too and he still played, and they haven't ruled him out yet.  idk, seems like it's not a horrible injury.  Seems like worst case it's something that only bothers him for 2 weeks at max.  Could be wrong, hope I'm not.

Once he comes back he's going to be money though.

Today's absence he doesn't hurt because schedule is stacked, but i fear this will linger all season. This guy has achilles soreness for almost a year now.

Opposite leg.

This always happens with Achilles injuries.

Will just be a precaution, its hard not to favour the opposite leg.

Anybody saying that its minor might be correct, but is still missing the point. This might be a case where he played in those preseason games to get a feel for how it would hold up, and it felt fine since it was his first game action in a while. Now, combine that with the fact that theres been a shortened preseason/training camp and it's possible hes just getting used to ramping up to game action again. With the game action under his belt the achilles might be sore and not feeling amazing. Unfortunately I think this is something that will have to continue to be monitored all season and he will probably miss games sprinkled throughout. Best case scenario in my opinion would be that hes still getting into game shape and itll loosen up slowly and he only misses a handful of games here and there. But with covid this year and a shortened window to practice and participate in preseason activities, I dont think Capela will be the only one missing games. However you spin it though, its definitely not a good look and not a good sign for him to play in preseason and then be unavailable for the season opener when they dont play again for 3 days after anyway.

Wow this is frustrating.  How does he play during the preseason all while we were being told he'd fully recovered from last season's foot issues -- only to be suddenly considered doubtful with achilles' soreness for the opener?

I'm just frustrated that word of this came out RIGHT after my draft lol.  There's no way I would have drafted him in the 50's if I knew about this.

Achilles stress is no bueno, but to mention something I brought up in Gobert's thread, consider that Capela's value as a high-FG% rebs/blks specialist could be higher now than it was even two or three years ago as the league moves further away from pure interior forces - stats like 65%, 13rpg and 2bpg are rarer than they used to be

Of course he'll need to stay healthy for any of that to matter lol but worth noting how few rosterable centers there are with his sort of output

Definitely a discouraging start to the season. With that said, as somebody mentioned earlier in the thread, he was/is still worth a shot where he was going in drafts.  There’s just very few players left in the league who put up such dominant FG%/reb/blocks and even though his FT% is terrible, he doesn’t take many attempts so that’s another bonus in cat leagues. Just have to hope they are just giving him a few games to get to 100% and then he can make the impact you drafted him for.

Yeah thats the problem, everyone who owns him is getting blasted in the a** in rebounds without his production

I’ll add blasted with booze tonight and maybe through the next week but yes this is disappointing. I would suggest trying to grab Onyeka as back up in deeper leagues pronto while we see how this unfolds.

They also said he'll be back soon. No timetable isn't always a bad thing. It could literally be day to day to something major. But it does help they added that comment. I'm staying positive.

Way more often than not, "no timetable" means weeks instead of days.
