Immanuel Quickley 2020-2021 Outlook

Good example how up and down some players are that you pick up off the waiver wire, and how the perception of their "value" can change very quickly.

Dort had some value after his hot start at the beginning of the season. Then he fell off and became waiver wire fodder. Recently he had 3 straight 20 point games, including a 6 steal effort. He has some value again, right? He's scored 7 and 4 points the last 2 games.

Quickley's been a little bit the same recently. But hopefully at some point he can break out for good. There's just no guarantee when that will be, especially if they trade for Derrick Rose.

Its funny thibs thinks he has a team that can compete rather than developing.

He played the whole 4th Knicks won He guarded Trae He scored more than Elf taking half the shots He is clearly their best PG Thibs loves him You should be ahead of these

If jorma says to drop you definitely know hes worth holding.  Some of you guys are so impatient. 11-1-2 in 15 minutes. How often is elfrid gonna be matched up against a rookie pg? The magic are o

Nah, the poster is rightfully shaming the lack of empathy you are displaying. It’s not acceptable to wish an injury upon people, and especially for your fantasy team of all things.

bro his job is to win not to develop. Currently the Knicks are in the playoffs if the season ends today. He knows, the organization knows, everyone knows that the Knicks have zero percent chance to win the championship. Its about showing every player a winning attitude/culture. Thibs is known to play his veterans massive minutes. Why would the Knicks hire him if they were in "lets develop young players" mode?

Funny how you think it's one or the other. Quickley will develop just fine coming off the bench. At the end of the day, you play to win the game.

Thibs be Thibbin.

I would not be shocked to see IQ glued to the bench so that Elfrid "1-year-contract" Payton can "show him how to win."

Lmao stop defending Thibs. All of you. Quickley is BETTER than Elfrid. Even the "advanced stats" show that he's a better defender then Elfrid. The fact that hes behind Elfrid AND Austin is preposterous. He's a better player point blank. He led the comeback the other day. Let the rookie develop and let him make errors.. Elfrid and Austin are making mistakes on the court anyways. But to regulate this kid to like 15 minutes a game is stupid. Thibs just trying to be a hard a** coach just to be a hardass.

The Knicks have the second worst team assisting numbers in the NBA. Only Portland is worse, barely.

Thibs has managed to get them to play defense, but his offense consists of players going 1-on-5 to get their own. Awful.

He was injured at the start of the year and the Knicks were winning without him. After he got up to speed, Thibs played him about 25 minutes per game, but the Knicks won only one game during that four game stretch. He reduced his playing time in the next two, and the Knicks won em both. Quickley was a combined -13 in those two wins. Thibs was performing his job well.

Since then, the Knicks have completed only two games. Thibs probably could have played him more in the loss to Sacramento since Elf **** the bed in that one, but IQ wasn't playing much better. He played better on Sunday and shot the Knicks back in the game, so the minutes were there.

I think it's apparent that Thibs wants to play him, but Quickley's play (and the team's play with him on the court) has held him back at times. And that's okay. He's shown flashes coming off the bench in a high usage role. That's not a bad thing for the team and for his development.

It's too bad he's not playing well tonight. This was a winnable game until it wasn't.

Erg.  I'm gonna chalk this one up to him being a rookie and playing against Utah's defense.  Maybe playing against the Cavs next will help him more.

For everyone saying he should start over Payton you are wrong. Quickley is a microwave type player. He is our spark off the bench. Payton is a veteran guard and plays a role of trying to get into starting unit to a rhythm to start the game. Also has experience gaurding opposing PGs.

Quickley himself has said he modeled his game after Lou Will. Quickley is the spark off the bench. Starting unit has enough offensive weapons with RJ Barrett, Randle, and Alec Burks. Quickley is a hold but expect up and down nights. He does look more comfortable every game in the PnR.

No one models their game after anybody to be a 6th man lol.

Not sure if I remember i heard on a broadcast or if an announcer said it but

https://theknickswall.com/immanuel-quickley-may-be-more-than-just-neophyte/

"On December 3rd, Immanuel Quickley told SNY that he models his game after three veteran combo guards: C.J. McCollum and Lou Williams on offense, and “defensively, Avery Bradley."

Right. you said he’s a spark off the bench and that IQ himself he wants to play like Lou Will, implying that IQ’s goal is to be the 6th man.

What I’m saying is that no one aspires to be the first player off the bench when they’re coming up.

Could also imply he sees himself as mostly a scorer. A walking bucket type player.
