Love me some Bertans but had to drop for Keldon with the news that Rui is back soon. That'll eat into his minutes some.

Last Season when both players were healthy:

March: Bertans = 28.5 MPG Rui = 31.7 MPG

February: Bertans = 30.1 MPG Rui = 29.8 MPG

December: Bertans = 33.7 MPG Rui = 34.4 MPG

Not sure why you'd think they have an effect on each others minutes other than position eligibility

EDIT: Also one is an absolute sniper from deep the other is a raw 22 year old in his 2nd year, one also just got paid, and one also fits better alongside Beal + Westbrook, not to say Rui wont have fantasy value, kid oozes potential, but these two guys aren't really tied together

This right here.  I think I'm more worried that Deni's arrival pushes Rui more to PF.  Bertans' conditioning also seems to be an issue, at least short-term.

However, I do think Bertans is absolutely needed in the rotation for about 28 minutes or more.  Ideally, I'd love to see a Westy/Beal/Deni/Rui/Bryant starting lineup with Bertans as the first man off the bench to act as a gunner and complement to Russ.

I had Bertans last year. For those that own him for the first time - when his minutes ramp up and his conditioning gets better you're going to ******** love him. He's going to get you some 3's in BUNCHES. It'll get insane at some points. The frequency of that might change with the roster obviously being different and more competitive this year, but when he is on, HE IS ON. Dropping him would be a mistake.

You like him more or less than Robinson as a 3pt specialist? I feel like Bertans is likely to get a few more stocks but I’m worried about his playing time with Rui.

Idk it’s a very different team this year. I don’t think you can just look at the minutes share last year and project no difference. Especially, as MWon highlights, with the addition of Deni who is playing so well. They have a greater backlog of playable forwards this year so I don’t think it’s laughable to question whether Bertans sees a reduction in minutes for the season.

Wizards just signed him to an $80m contract, he is gonna get minutes. 20, 25, 30 minutes doesn't matter, he will average 8+ 3 PTA per game at the end of the season.

why on earth are you guys trying to drop lol. he had 4 straight games of 4 threes and he has one bad game and you wanna jump ship.

this forum is an incredible insight to the human psyche.

BC he provides next to nothing in boards, assists, steals, blocks all while he's sinking your fg% this year at just 37%. This has him ranked a dismal 162 in 9Cat on the year. He can improve on that surely, but at the end of the day he's a 1 category specialist with that category (3s) being the easiest one to find on the waiver wire.

His minutes and his role are down with the additions of Avdija and Westbrook, so let's chill on acting like this guy is some undroppable stud

His usage rate is roughly the same as last year, when he was ranked 60th.  I am not concerned with his minutes and role.

If  a single player with 11.3 FGA  (Bertans career maximum, this year he is at 9.3)   can sink your team FG%, I think you have bigger problems with your team.

if you acquired him, all you cared about was pts and 3s. also, guys have rough starts. that is basketball

i don't understand the amount of people acting like novices on this forum. 3pt shooting is subject to massive variance. we are 4 weeks in.

He's down to 24 minutes a game, over 5 minutes less than he was getting last year. Hence the 2 fewer attempts per game, fewer points, fewer 3s, fewer everything. That is definitely something to be concerned about. Wiz spent a top 10 pick on Avdija, they have every reason to invest in his development and see what they have, especially on this team that looks worse than expected and doesn't look like it's going to sniff the playoffs atm

If you go to your league standings I'd bet most of the teams are tightly clustered around 45-47%, fg% is often very close unless one team is blatantly tanking fg%. So yes Bertans shooting 37% on 30-40 attempts per week can definitely cause you to lose that category, along with the weak a** peripheral stats he contributes. He is objectively a low-end, barely worth a roster spot right now in 12 team leagues. That could change if Brooks decides to start giving him more minutes, but that's where we're at right now

btw, Wizards/Jazz is postponed tmrw

This. You can easily find his production+ on the wire. Yeah, 4 3's a game is nice but have you ever had 3 per game with other things?! (Clarkson, Ross, Gordon, etc...) It's pretty nice. I dropped for Keldon weeks ago and he's still sitting on the wire in all of my leagues. He's more of a late week streamer if you need 3's.

On the flip side I'll still keep an eye on him to see if he gets more run now that Bryant is done.
