Of all the people on this board, you are the last one that should be bringing up past player evaluations

The backstory of how they share an agent and how the agent basically played McNair like a fiddle into thinking Caserio was about to be hired by the Panthers is also pretty outrageous.  https://ww

You are using the CEH pick as an example of a first round running back that represented a good use of draft capital?  Seems an odd choice. As for Tua, if the Texans cannot get anything better for

Interesting hire.

They must wanna go the CEO type rout right now. Probably allows them to keep Tim Kelly as OC, they can hire McCown as QB coach and the front office mostly keeps all its power.

Idk, Watson seems to like the OC Kelly. I guess we will just have to see if the Jets or 49ers can figure out a way to trade for him.

The weaker the HC hire, the more he can be puppet-mastered around.

Now they have they guy that helped Belichick with his last few NFL drafts as GM and the guy who organized the Ravens passing "attack" as their head coach.

I wish him well but he is inheriting a mess.

Texans president Jamey Rootes has resigned.

Rootes has spent the last 20 years with the Texans, where he oversaw the business and administrative side of the organization. This isn't related to the Deshaun Watson situation, but the Texans have been shaking up their front office, also moving on from director of football administration Kevin Kracjcovic. PFT's Mike Florio reported part of Rootes' decision to resign is based on his GM recommendations being ignored. Senior VP of corporate development Greg Grissom will oversee business operations until the Texans hire a new president.

How many people in this organization think they should have meaningful input on a new GM?

Of these people, how many realize teams were calling the Patriots about Nick Caserio for around the past 5 years?

This isn't like the Texans hired someone out of left field.

There was even tampering accusations against Houston and Easterby regarding trying to hire Caserio while was under contract with Pats. The plan to hire Caserio    Seems like it was set in stone prior to last season.

The Texans won't get any credit in the media for being classy and letting JJ Watt pick his future team.  Predictably, Rotoworld took a potshot instead.

Quote

Watt in a video posted to Twitter Friday morning said he and the team "mutually agreed to part ways" after his release request. The Texans, true to form, chose not to trade Watt for draft picks or any other form of compensation.

Wow, what a disaster the Texans are.  They let it all get away from them.  Now they won't even get a trade package they like for Watson, because Watson will not stay there now for sure.

You do know that they could've taken his preferences into account before making a trade so they could get something back.

Justin James gets it - he made it out the exit, too.

graceful move by the organization to release Watt and let him choose to go to a team he can potentially win a super bowl instead of trading him to some team he may not like for some compensation.

shame Justin James couldn’t offer the same when he was caught on a hot mic advising Watson to get out of Houston.

Watt played with Houston when Vrable was coaching there and the Titans need DL help in a bad way. Great way to stick it to the Texans for Justin James is to sign with a division rival and demolish them twice a year for the rest of your career.

TEN does make sense - I still don’t quite understand why Houston didn’t see this inevitability coming, though, and work out a deal to J.J.‘s liking in exchange for...well, anything, really!

If we're talking cap space + quality of team it seems to me like the Bucs and Colts are likely possibilities.

I see a lot of people mentioning the Packers and Steelers, which are fun narratives but both teams look up against it financially.  I suppose they could try to make it work but there are a bunch of teams that don't need creative accounting and have plenty of dry powder already.  I tend to doubt he'd want to play for the Jags or Jets of the world though.

My money is on him playing in Tampa and them letting Suh and probably Barrett walk.
