Jaden McDaniels 2020-2021 Outlook

Recommended Posts

The path for mins is looking clear for him. You have 2 former starting PFs for this team already losing their spots in the rotation (Juancho & Layman) Okogie is also losing minutes so i believe the coach is testing new rotations and seeing what works. McDaniels has been sneaky good and i think it makes sense to play him and Vander in the longrun. Hopefully he does that sooner than later.

Hitting my dick for not trusting my instinct and pick him up

Finch is a well-known commodity among coaches. He was he assistant responsible for creating the Jokic/Denver offense. Also, the early Zion/Ingram Pelicans era. He is supposedly an offensive genius.

I jumped from Vanderbilt to McDaniels because of what McDaniels has shown. His per-minute block/3pm combo stats are monstrous. He has more poise, an outside shot, and discipline with the ball. He can

No he can’t. These Durant comparisons need to stop every time a tall guy that can dribble and shoot above average comes into the league. Durant averaged 20 PPG in his rookie season and hasn’t looked back averaging over 25 PPG every season since.

Can he be an all star? Yes. Can he even be a top 10 player? If he develops right his size and natural abilities may get him there. However, he is no Durant just like everyone else that is and was compared to him isn’t. Durant is a once in a lifetime generational talent.

I agree, Durant can do coming into the league what these long lengthy shooters only hope to be able to accomplish in their future careers.

I usually say Ingram or Ingram lite. McDaniels is right now an Ingram Lite or Jonathan Isaac if he is more defensive.

It's kind of alarming how MIN has so many failures at the PF position.

Regardless of the end result with the stat line this is the bottom line.  He was playing early fourth, and got pulled for Vanderbilt (KAT came back in for Reid).  Then before long he goes right back in for Vanderbilt, meaning coach was just giving him a quick breather and wanted him to play down the stretch.  We've seen this in other games, but to continue to see things trending that way is a great thing.  Arrow continues pointing up.

He’s definitely promising. Should I drop will Barton or Grayson Allen and add him?

I haven't really followed Barton recently but I don't think Allen's current minute allotment is super safe despite him playing great recently. Melton and Bane will both cut into his minutes and both were back today. I made the switch from Vanderbilt to McDaniels a few days ago and definitely am liking how his ROS is looking with him closing games.

He can only get better. He is kind of passive right now on offense. That's because he needs to figure it out and not waste shots so coach can keep him as a difference maker on the floor. Once he gets his shots or coach gives him more freedom, he can be scary.

Like taking/hitting 2 more shots today he would've had a great line.

Oops too late. Some a**hole already picked McDaniels up.

For those watching, has Jaden played other positions or just PF? Im wondering what versatility I can get if I make the move.

He is playing PF. The extra minutes are coming because he is getting all bench PF minutes, PLUS a smattering of "starter" PF minutes next to KAT and closing the game.

He has the potential for sure. It was one of his main comparisons going into college.

One thing to mention is that while I know Mike Hopkins was highly respected at Syracuse he has been an awful coach for the Huskies. The offense he runs is absolute straight trash. They’re sitting at the bottom of the table this year with the worst offense in the conference. Stewart and McDaniels were both viewed as elite lottery prospects (Stewart even top 3 upside) and they were trash last year.

Point is, it may take a bit for him to develop. I think he has more dynasty upside because the talent is there. He just actually has to learn the NBA game after the pathetic **** he had to deal with last season.

Yeah I can see he is a little behind in general. And Stewart supposedly is trying to expand his skill set already.

The good thing is McDaniels is pushing at 30 mins a game so he can get his experience for the game that he missed before.

Great stat set, but his unimpressive per 36 numbers is concerning. Guys like Isaac and Boucher , it was easy to see. Is Jaden just not active when he's on the court?

It's basically him playing beside a chucker like Beasley, no1 pick Edward's, and all star Towns. Not to mention Russell is supposed to be in the starters too. Hard to get stats beside these guys.

Yep. Per 36 points 10.3, per 36 fouls 4.8.

Seems like a recipe for immediate success.

He's a 20 year old rookie. I'm not worried about the per-36 stats of someone who's only appeared in 24 games. He's already at must-roster status in deep leagues (shallow leaguers shouldn't even be on this forum...) due to the 30+ minutes in B2B games and he's putting up 1.7 threes and 2.0 blocks over the last two weeks. Those are Brook Lopez stats.

Plus you have the added long-term bonus of him being on the worst team in the NBA. He should see ample playing time ROS. Just preaching to the choir here.

Hey, he looks the part. Plus, I agree, all signs are point up for him. It's just whenever I pull up those per 36's it gives me pause (I haven't pulled the trigger on adding him yet).

Per 36 what is it going to matter?  He will have little to no usage in that lineup.  Will never be a volume scorer.  His value for now is a shot blocking specialist who can hit the occasional 3.

Looks like I'm off the McDaniels train. I was forced to deal him with AD for J. Allen and Beasley. May regret it lol

Naw it's a good deal. McD is just a flier for now with upside. J Allen is gonna do his thing and Beasley's floor is higher than McD. Who knows what AD will look like when he comes back.

The usage sucks for this guy so he's gonna have to figure out the spot up 3's follow by the occasional slashes to the net. Worth picking up if you in the right sized league and have a spot to see where his upside ends up.

Haha thanks man. Well it turns out the manager that received him dropped him right after 😂 and i just made another deal to free up a roster spot. Gonna try to get him back with my 9th waiver unless he falls off a cliff all of a sudden.

Jarrett Allen today, 26 pts 17rebs 2 ast 3 blks 100% FG vs AD ... 0 stats. The guy's dumb.

McDaniels isn't taking it to the next level yet so there's still time.
