Marcell Ozuna dislocated the ring and middle fingers on his left hand and has been sent back to Atlanta for further evaluation.

Ozuna suffered the dual dislocations when he slid into the foot of Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers on Tuesday night in Boston. The slugger will see a hand specialist when he returns home and the hope for now is that he might be able to avoid the injured list, but that's obviously not a guarantee. Sometimes dislocations come with other forms of structural damage. Look for an update on the situation Wednesday.

Technically replay showed his hand got caught on Dever's shoe when trying to reach the bag.  Dever's was about a foot off the bag so it could have caused Ozuna's fingers to get stuck a little under it and twisted them as his momentum continued to the bag.

I've seen trainers just pull dislocated fingers back in place on the field and the player continues.  But this looked like Ozuna was in serious pain and the trainer walked him off almost immediately.  Also flying him back to Atlanta to see a hand specialist isn't a good sign either.

Let's hope it's a clean dislocation and not a fracture of chip of the bone.  I dislocated the PIP joint on my index finger fielding a grounder in a beer league back in the day and had to have multiple surgeries cuz I fractured the bone.  My finger was never the same and to this day I can't bend it fully.   The good thing is it's his left hand, and he's right handed.  So it's not his throwing hand.

Apparently Ozuna was on Instagram & sent this.  Ultimately he's saying thank God nothing more serious happened, he's going to be recouping for 6 weeks.  Don't hold me to this - just sharing what I'm reading as the scoop :)

I wonder how many people have rage dropped him due to this iL dela?

Oh the IL delay has been something.....

I get why we didn't see action yesterday (they were off).  I'd have to imagine that happening today before their game.

Very typically a diagnosis of being out for six weeks comes down before a game, an org typically makes a move same day.  I’m sure he will be moved today.
