2021 MiLB call up watch thread

Message added by tonycpsu,

This thread is for discussion of confirmed and/or imminent call-ups.  If you've seen news that someone has been called up, or informed speculation from reputable sources that someone may be on their way to the show soon, feel free to share these items with the community here.  Do not ask "who's going to be called up next?" -- that's what the thread is for, so asking is superfluous.  Also, do not use this thread for deep dives into specific minor league players -- that's what their MiLB outlook threads are for.

  • Mets recalled OF Khalil Lee from Triple-A Syracuse.

Lee will be active for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Orioles and figures to make his MLB debut at some point during the matinee. The 22-year-old racked up 53 stolen bases over 129 games during his last full minor league season in 2019 before getting traded to the Mets over the winter as part of the three-team Andrew Benintendi swap. The raw speed is certainly intriguing for fantasy purposes, and he could get a decent amount of playing time for New York until Brandon Nimmo (finger) is ready to return.

Apologies if this was started elsewhere but I did not see one and found this thread helpful in the past so figured I would get it started. In previous year there was a thread dedicated solely to

Giants calling up RHP Gregory Santos   He's certainly not a huge name but Eric Longenhagen of Fangraphs put Santos at #98 on his top 100 list   Just made his MLB Deb

Apologies if this too borderline, but I saw the co-founder of ProspectsLive tweet that he has no confirmed source but expects Owen Miller (CLE/SS) to be in the bigs this weekend. Obv deep leagues

And another biggy:

It isn't just Jarred Kelenic time for the M's. They're calling up right-hander Logan Gilbert, their top pitching prospect, and he's likely to start tomorrow, sources tell ESPN.

Big stuff happening in Seattle, where Kelenic, Gilbert and eventually Julio Rodriguez will be staples.

Obv deep leagues only, but as acting president of his fanclub I am obligated to get some folks out in front of this developing situation.

Indians' Owen Miller: Gets first big-league call-up

Cleveland selected Miller's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

He'll replace the injured Franmil Reyes (abdomen) on Cleveland's active roster, while Roberto Perez (finger) was transferred to the 60-day IL to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Miller, one of the key pieces the organization acquired in the August 2020 deal that sent Mike Clevinger to San Diego. Since being traded from San Diego, the 24-year-old has only further solidified himself as one of Cleveland's more intriguing higher-level prospects after he slashed .406/.457/.609 with seven extra-base hits in his first 16 games with Columbus. With Reyes on the 10-day IL and Cleveland struggling to get production from its other hitters aside from Jose Ramirez, Miller could be in store for a near-everyday role in the middle infield or in left field during his first stint in the big leagues.

Vladimir Gutierrez is coming up to pitch for the Reds on Friday.
He’s put up a 2.65 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 21/7 k/bb in 17ip at AAA this year.

Starting against the Cubs.

Eli Morgan will be called up to make his MLB debut in a start Friday versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Morgan has pretty good minor league numbers -- 3.11 ERA, 10.1 K/9 in 332 2/3 total innings -- but the 25-year-old former eighth-round pick is not a recommended fantasy streamer against a powerful Jays offense.

Sam Long getting the call to start for SF tomorrow. Has a 1.99era, 37/5 k/bb ratio in 22.2ip in AA/AAA this season (just 7.2ip at AAA over 1 start and 1 other appearance). Definitely worth monitoring his start and to see if he sticks in the rotation while others are out with injuries. Pretty SSS to say he’s a must grab, even though the numbers are very impressive.

Nothing to report.  Just a comment.  We are starting to get into the main part of June call-up season.  This thread could get even busier so keep up the good work everyone!  I for one really appreciate all your work.
