2021 MiLB call up watch thread

Message added by tonycpsu,

This thread is for discussion of confirmed and/or imminent call-ups.  If you've seen news that someone has been called up, or informed speculation from reputable sources that someone may be on their way to the show soon, feel free to share these items with the community here.  Do not ask "who's going to be called up next?" -- that's what the thread is for, so asking is superfluous.  Also, do not use this thread for deep dives into specific minor league players -- that's what their MiLB outlook threads are for.

Apologies if this was started elsewhere but I did not see one and found this thread helpful in the past so figured I would get it started. In previous year there was a thread dedicated solely to

Apologies if this too borderline, but I saw the co-founder of ProspectsLive tweet that he has no confirmed source but expects Owen Miller (CLE/SS) to be in the bigs this weekend. Obv deep leagues

Matt Manning SP DET is expected to be called up and start on Thursday.

He has been rough in AAA, but is very talented and could turn the corner immediately.

Zach Reks called up and in the lineup tonight! Good numbers in AAA but 27yrs old with a 32% k% is not pretty. .341 avg/1.022 ops but sporting a .521 BABIP! 5hr/14 doubles. From what I know he’s known for his power but probably just a high strikeout/low average/power guy. Nice Speculative add if he gets playing time and stays hot from AAA

OK. it is now "officially" OFFICIAL: 🤩

Rays purchased the contract of INF Wander Franco from Triple-A Durham.

Let the fun begin. Franco will bat second and play third base in his major league debut Tuesday against the Red Sox. Regarded as the consensus No. 1 prospect in the game, the 20-year-old finally got the call after slashing .323/.376/.601 with 24 extra-base hits (including seven homers) and five stolen bases and a 20/12 K/BB ratio over 38 games in Triple-A this season. He's capable of making an impact across the board in fantasy leagues and should already be rostered in all competitive fantasy leagues. While Franco has primarily played shortstop in the minors, it's clear that the Rays plan to mix and match. They are pretty good at that, after all. Either way, Franco should be a regular in the Rays' lineup moving forward. He has legitimate star potential.

THU, JUL 1, 6:53 PMROTOWIRE.COM

Patino is expected to be called up by the Rays to start Friday against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Spin: Patino has been pitching well for Triple-A Durham, throwing 17 straight scoreless innings. Between his recent form and the injuries to Tyler Glasnow (elbow) and Josh Fleming (calf), Patino could stick with the big-league club if he carries over his strong performance from the minors. Patino has thrown five innings in each of his last three starts, so he could work long enough to earn a win if he can hold the Blue Jays' offense in check.
