Ha, it's great how even in our RW forums draft no one wants to give ARod a pass catcher. We're working on 3rd year without drafting even a single WR for him much less with a high pick.   Suck it MVP boy and enjoy yet another year with Allen Lazard or Marquez Valdes-Scantling as your WR2.  And don't complain because we just drafted Jordan Love last year in the 1st and he won't bitch if we let him start instead of you. He'll throw balls to Eqanimeous St-Brown and like it.

There are some really good slot guys to be had in the middle of this draft.

Eh, the "only one" rule was already broken, so who cares. We'll just make it a circlej... I mean a pool Also inviting @BrianM @Flyman75 @Sack Exchange @pastorofmuppets2 @Deuce1042 @trilly @markrc

So far it's been an absolute blast, more fun than the actual draft. I propose to not just keep this going, but send it to some of the teams so they know what to pick

Tennessee need defensive help so bad, In many forms. One of the best players left at his position, who will pair up nicely with their former 1st round pick, Tennessee selects Aaron Robinson, CB, UCF. An aggressive CB who can play press man coverage, is adept at covering the slot, a hard hitter good tackler, and a fast riser on many peoples draft boards to pair opposite Kristian Fulton.

@mocha4313 otc

Having hit the pressing needs of QB, iOL and corner the Jets can move down the list to their pressing but not as pressing needs of EDGE, TE, WR, RB and LB.

Of these, it comes down to a few players for me but with Ronnie Perkins and the Ohio State LBs off the board I lean towards offense.

So with the 87th pick the New York Jets select Amon Ra St Brown--WR from USC. Not being the fastest, flashiest or best athlete is pretty much why he is available because his production profile is excellent--breaking out as a freshman and managing even production alongside an older future NFLer in Michael Pittman Jr and showing great routes, hands, physicality and YAC.

The ceiling may not be super high but at the very least he projects as a quality WR who can fill the Crowder role full time after the latter leaves next year.

Also considered a few TEs and an RB here

The Packers number 1 need last year was WR and they didn't address it--no disagreement here

But this year their top need is far and away corner. They don't win the NFC CG even with a Tee Higgins, Brandon Aiyuk or Michael Pittman Jr (maybe with Justin Jefferson but he was off). They might have won it with a decent CB2 opposite Jaire instead of Kevin King getting burnt by Scottie Miller.

At the moment their run defense is also a bigger hole than their passing offense. It makes plenty of sense why the Packers should wait till the 3rd to go WR

The Steelers select, OG Deonte Brown out of Alabama. OL is arguably the Steelers most pressing need, and probably should’ve been addressed sooner then this. Brown is an absolute boulder of a Guard who didn’t give up a single sack last year and also excels in the run game. Steelers gotta get back to some ground and pound football, and College teammates Najee Harris and Deonte Brown are a great way to get that going.

I was going to go St. Brown here, but I’m going to go with the following instead:

The LA Rams select Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson

For 2 reasons:

1. I’m surprised he’s still on the board

2. I only know skill position players left on the board at this point

The Rams don’t have a big need at WR but the value is right here.

@DerrickHenrysCleats The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock

cleveland has gone back to back defenders and they don’t break the trend with this pick either. Having just released Sheldon Richardson the browns will need an interior presence on the Dline and they will address that need with this pick.

another pre draft riser the Cleveland Browns select Milton Williams, a 6’3 interior Defensive Lineman checking in at 283 lbs.

Williams ran a 4.61 40-yard dash, had a 38.5-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 broad jump.

Williams held a Pro Day workout at his training facility Exos in Frisco, Texas three weeks ago. The numbers in three-cone drill and short shuttle he put up then were at or close to defensive tackle record numbers. He broke both of those Thursday, running a 6.87 three-cone and a 4.25 20-yard shuttle.

He also repped 225lbs 34 times.

Minnesota continues staring at Offensive Line help, but again its a push because Brevin Jordan from the U is still sitting there, and I want to select this guy (my guy) before I get fired after night 2 of the Draft. Minnesota likes fast, athletic tight ends and this guy fits the bill to compete with Irv Smith or possibly be good for double tight end packages. With this final pick in the 3rd round, I won't be playing the later rounds for this mock, but I'll keep a lookout for what you guys all do here, very insightful stuff all around

@DerrickHenrysCleats you're up...again

After taking 3 straight defensive players Cleveland decides to dip their toe in the OL pool to add depth to their already strong unit. The Browns select Trey Smith, LG, Tennessee.

one of the better run blocking guards in the SEC Smiths draft stock took a slight hit with a blood clot in 2018, he has since recovered and played 2019 and 2020 healthy helping alleviate any health concerns. The ability to kick out to play tackle in a pinch as well as playing high level football at LG Cleveland makes a move to help solidify their identity. A ground and pound offense with lots of beef up front.

Btw, this whole mock became a joke at Pick #3.

0.00% chance the 49ers take Fields.

It's 100.00% Trey Lance.

yep, I’d mortgage my next couple decades on a QB with 16 FCS starts and hasn’t played any football at all in 2 years too.

I mean, imagine NOT realizing that the 49ers traded up specifically for Trey Lance in particular.

Trey Lance is the perfect, quintessential QB for Kyle Shanahan's QB-under-center play-action run game.

I know this for 100% fact and all of u will see in 8 days.

I think the Niners made a mistake for trading that much draft capital for whatever QB that's going to be there at 1.3.  If the pick is Trey Lance *and* he has a successful career in SF then I'll eat my plate of crow.  He could turn out to be the next Matt Ryan, but it wouldn't shock me if he had a decent run of 2 games to 2 years or so then imploded (see Danny Dimes).  The "big armed mobile QB with fixable footwork and accuracy issues that faced questionable level of competition" types don't generally have a great track record in the NFL.

1) Lance doesn't have any footwork or accurracy issues.

2) Lance has extremely high football IQ, reads the entire field, goes through progressions quickly, and lined up under center in a Pro-Style offense. You are completely misevaluating Lance's intangibles. He's a toolsy QB with A+ football acumen - you are completely missing the boat on this.

3) There are only 3 franchise-altering players in the 2021 NFL Draft: Lawrence, Wilson, and Lance. That's it, end of list. The 49ers wisely traded up to #3 to get the final franchise-altering player in this draft. Huge winners.

Soooo....Amari Rodgers was gonna be my pick here. I was almost 100% certain that I'd have a shot at him and now it's time to pick up the pieces. I was tempted to go LB out of pure spite, but Packers nation would riot if I didn't take a WR.

Let's go with big time riser, D'Wayne Eskridge from Western Michigan. The man runs 4.39 and averaged 23.3 yards per reception last year. He put some criticism of his competition to bed by showing out at the Senior Bowl as well.

A pick like this isn't the slot complement that would go well in the Packers lineup, but he's got the talent to be a true two if he pans out.

Plus Western Michigan University is only 2 hours away from Central Michigan where Antonio Brown went to school...need I say more? Some Jets receiver went there too.

@PisEdiRin you're up

I had planned to go WR here because I see it as our 3rd biggest need and closer to 2nd than 4th but a player far too good fell at a position that we also need help at and I can't really pass him up.

So with the 94th pick the Kansas City Chiefs select Ifeatu Melifonwu--the corner from Syracuse. A large, long physical and athletic specimen who plays with clean technique, possesses good burst and shows solid ball skills, Melifonwu was the rock of a Syracuse secondary that also included Andre Cisco and Trill Williams and IMO made them look even better than they are--something best seen in his coverage of Dyami Brown in the UNC Syracuse game this year

IMO this guy is a top 50-60 talent and his combination of length and fluidity gives him a tangible CB1 ceiling that is rare to find past the first round (CB and EDGE are the positions usually where 1st round capital is most predictive)--would have considered him at 63 and definitely an easy pick at 94

@markrc99 you're up
