Ronald Acuna 2021 Outlook

sitting again...

(2 mins ago) Acuna (back) will be out of the lineup Thursday against the Reds, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Acuna was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with lower-back tightness and will sit for the second consecutive day due to the injury. He could return to action Friday if the issue shows some improvement. Ehire Adrianza started in his place Wednesday and could receive another look in right field for the series opener at Cincinnati.

and were back....

(10 mins ago) Acuna (back) is starting in right field and batting leadoff Friday against the Reds.

The 23-year-old was held out of the starting nine the past two days with tightness in his lower back, but he'll return to action Friday in Cincinnati. Acuna is 3-for-18 with eight strikeouts in his past seven appearances, though he still has a .903 OPS with two homers, a double, three walks and a stolen base.

3-18 with a .903 OPS is insane.

Just saw the footage on MLB Network. Yikes. He’s been playing with fire all season, but this looked serious. Feel awful for him as he was visibly upset and seemed to know it was bad.

Looked like his knee buckled inward. Which ligament is on the inside of knee?? Doesn’t look very good.

ACL

My only reason for hope is that he's looked like he blew his knee up a couple times before and played like two days later. Please be OK.

At this point I'd be very happy with a 10-day IL stint.

ACL

Just researching here. Looks like the MCL is on the inner side of the knee. LCL on outer side. ACL and PCL down middle of knee. Like the poster said above…I hope his reaction was “over dramatic.” Similar to his 1st base incident earlier this season.

(5 mins ago) Manager Brian Snitker said following Saturday's win over the Marlins that Acuna will continue to be evaluated after he was carted off the field with an apparent right leg injury, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Acuna appeared to be in a lot of pain as he was carted off, but the club is still holding out hope that the injury isn't as serious as it initially appeared. Atlanta is hoping to have an update on the outfielder Sunday morning, and he can be considered a near-sure bet to miss Sunday's series finale
