Socrates Brito went 3-for-3 with his first major league triple, two runs scored and an RBI in

Thursday's 8-6 win over the Diamondbacks. (The 23-year-old, named Arizona's minor league player of the year after slashing .300/.339/.451 on the farm, is riding a nice little four-game hitting stream. He only has 21 at-bats, but has a .429/.429/.619 slash line to show for them.)

So Arizona's minor league player of the year helped beat the DIAMONDBACKS? And, he has a nice little hitting STREAM going?

Two errors in one blurb. I didn't fact check the stats, but I'm almost surprised the didn't call him Plato or Aristotle.

Ender Inciarte (shin) indicated that he's hopeful he'll be able to play before the regular season closes out on Sunday.
Inciarte last played on Monday, but the Diamondbacks have been cautious with him in the preceding days and he won't be playing against the Astros on Friday in what should be a pivotal series that could help decide the second AL Wild Card. He's hopeful to get back on the field before the Snakes close up shop in a few days.

He definitely played on Tuesday...

Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 with his 17th homer and 23rd double Friday against the Mariners.

Valencia's surprising power outburst this year will ensure that the A's keep him next season, perhaps as their primary third baseman. His 17 homers this year have come in just 36 at-bats.

Really should have picked him up down the stretch.

rotoworld bashed santiago casilla all season, even though he had a FANTASTIC year.

for example:

Santiago Casilla wriggled free of trouble in the ninth inning to earn his 34th save in Wednesday's 5-3 victory over the Reds.

Casilla gave up a leadoff single to Skip Schumaker and a few batters later found runners on first and third after Jason Bourgeois' one-out single. An intentional walk meant he had to put out a bases-loaded fire. Casilla has a 2.96 ERA and 34 saves, which is fine enough, but he's no longer a reliable ninth inning bet. With 21 walks in 51 2/3 innings, a 1.32 WHIP and five blown saves, San Francisco will consider finding itself a new stopper this winter. Sep 17 - 1:34 AM
oh wait never mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Santiago Casilla's $6.5 million option for 2016 vested on Saturday.

And the Giants will happily pay it. Casilla finished his 55th game of the season in Saturday's win over the Rockies, earning his 38th save and dropping his ERA to 2.79. He should remain a high quality fantasy closer next year. Oct 3 - 7:27 PM

Kole Calhoun has qualified for arbitration as a Super Two player.

This means he'll go through the arbitration process four times as opposed to the usual four. According to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register and MLB Trade Rumors, the 28-year-old outfielder just barely made the cut-off. Calhoun should get a nice payday after reaching career-highs with 26 home runs and 83 RBI this season.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Nationals may have interest in acquiring Ben Revere from the Blue Jays.

The Nationals continue to search for a replacement in center field now that Denard Span has officially departed and signed with the Nationals. If they are unable to find a suitable replacement, they may decide to roll with Michael Taylor in center field, though they prefer to keep him as a fourth outfielder.

apparently Goeddel could open the season as the Pirates starting right fielder.

Rule 5 Draft pick Tyler Goeddel could open the 2016 season as the Pirates' starting right fielder.

Aaron Altherr needed surgery this week for a torn tendon sheath in his wrist and will be out 4-6 months, and Cody Asche can't seem to get past his late-February oblique injury. So there's a clear path to the starting job for Goeddel. A former supplemental first-round pick of the Rays, the lanky 23-year-old batted .279/.350/.433 with 12 home runs, 10 triples, and 28 stolen bases in 123 games last season at Double-A. Get him on the cheat sheet for NL-only fantasy drafts.

Erasmo Ramirez pitched six innings of one-run ball and struck out eight as the Rays beat the Twins 5-2 on Wednesday.

The Rays one even though Ramirez was the only member of the team's 40-man roster to make the trip. He actually pitched in relief so that Dana Eveland could get a look against first-stringers. Ramirez, who has nothing to prove this spring, took over in the fourth and finished from there. He'll be the Rays' fifth starter, though he could pitch some in relief next month because of all of the team's off days.

One. Won. It really doesn't matter.

Carlos Rodon was torched for nine runs in 4 1/3 innings by the Reds on Saturday.
Rodon gave up a pair of homers and saw his spring ERA climb to 7.98. It's not a major concern, especially since he's walked just four in 14 2/3 innings. We're more worried about his bouts of wildness than him getting hard with much frequency during the regular season.

they forgot to add the word hit ahead of hard

As a Red Sox fan I so wish this was reality...

Blue Jays manager John Farrell will announce the team's closer on Wednesday morning.

The Blue Jays were originally expected to make the announcement on Tuesday, but there has been a change of plans. It would be a surprise if Drew Storen didn't get the nod, especially since he has a 1.50 ERA in six appearances this spring.

Kyle Hendricks was charged with four runs -- two earned -- over six innings of work in Friday's loss to the Rockies.

Hendricks was helped by his defense, although he made one of the Cubs' four errors himself. The right-hander did strike out five on the day and didn't walk anyone, so that's a feather in his cap. Hendricks will take on the Cardinals next week the next time he toes the rubber.

The word NOT makes a big difference here. (NOT helped by his defense)

Cesar Hernandez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mets.

He'll take a seat against right-hander Logan Verrett. Andres Blanco will start at second base and bat third. Freddy Galvis is batting cleanup Tuesday while Odubel Herrera is in the No. 2 spot.

I almost choked and spit out my drink of water when I read that. I checked and Galvis is batting leadoff ... still not wise but certainly not the insanity cleanup would be,

Ben Zobrist went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

Zobrist singled and scored what turned out to be the winning run in the fourth inning. He's hit and scored a run in two straight games after going hitless in his previous five contests. A grisly veteran with strong on-base skills hitting in the middle of a great lineup, Zobrist will get his this season despite the slow start

Oh come on - Ben may be old, but he doesn't look that bad, Rotoworld!

Pirates OF prospect Tyler Glasnow hurled five shutout innings Sunday in a win for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Glasnow had to work hard in this one. Though he only allowed two hits, Glasnow struggled with his control all day while handing out a season-high five walks. He countered that by tallying seven strikeouts. The top prospect has won his last two starts and has limited opponents to a dismal .187 average in 91 at-bats this season. The 22-year-old is creeping closer to his big league debut, which could occur any month now.

pretty good for an OF prospect.

Starling Marte - OF - Pirates
Rougned Odor was ejected from Sunday's game against the Blue Jays after landing a massive right hook to the jaw of Jose Bautista during a benches-clearing brawl.
After a hard slide from Bautista into second base, Odor wasted no time clocking Bautista which started the altercation. He'll almost certainly face a suspension which could be lengthy, so fantasy owners should prepare to have an alternative option on hand. Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson and Jesse Chavez were among the others ejected during the brawls.
May 15 - 6:23 PM

Maybe Marte is Odor's corner man?

Jordan Zimmermann has been diagnosed with a strained right groin.

Zimmermann tweaked the groin while making a pitch in the sixth inning of Sunday's start against the Rays. It's too soon to tell whether this is a potential disabled list injury. The Tigers should have more on his status after the game.

I wonder if the Tigers know Zimmerman went back to the Nats?
