Kevin Kiermaier is not in the Rays' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Diamondbacks.

Guillermo Heredia will play center field and bat ninth with left-hander Patrick Corbin on the mound for Arizona. Kiermaier got off to a nice start this season but has slashed .161/.254/.232 over his last 63 plate appearances.

Back in the day there was a thread that posted many of the many misses in the Rotoworld/Sportsedge universe. Seems as good of a time to resurrect as any.  For example did you know Ronald Acuna an

I guess Turnbull is going to try and pitch to Gary with his left today... seriously how do you write for a fantasy site and not even know which hand a dude throws with.

Not to mention, how is he going to rejoin the Reds rotation this weekend if his minor league rehab start is Thursday?

It’s 2018 again! I’ll get Cron in my lineup today too if the Rays are facing DBacks lefty Corbin.

Marcus Stroman dropped to 1-5 after giving up six runs -- five earned -- in 4 2/3 innings against the Twins on Monday.

Stroman had a 1.43 ERA after six starts, but regression has hit hard, as he's allowed 11 runs -- nine earned -- over eight innings in his last two outings. The Twins scored off him in four of the five innings he pitched tonight, and he finished with just two strikeouts. He'll have an easier assignment next time out against the Blue Jays.

They aren't wrong...  The Blue Jays offense is putrid...  (Yeah I know Stroman is a Jay)...

Ryan McMahon is absent from the Rockies' starting lineup on Friday.

It looks to be a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting second baseman. Garrett Hampson is starting in his place at second base and batting seventh against Eric Lauer and the Padres in Colorado on Friday.

Possibly the biggest blunder of the 2019 season

Avisail Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a stolen base to propel the Rays' to a win over the division-rival Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Garcia clobbered a solo homer -- his sixth long-ball of the season -- off Yankees' starter CC Sabathia to put the Rays on the board in the second inning. He also showcased some impressive base-running savvy, swiping second base and advancing to third on a throwing error after leading off the sixth inning with a base hit. The 27-year-old outfielder is hitting .283/.345/.496 with 19 runs scored, 14 homers and three steals in 139 plate appearances.

So which is it? Lol obviously they meant 14 RBI. They need better editing.

“Shohei Ohtani slugs first homer vs. Royals Ohtani turned on a 91-mph heater from Royals’ starter Jakob Junis, launching a two-run homer -- his first round-tripper of the season -- to right field in the sixth inning. The 24-year-old two-way sensation has been limited to a designated hitter role this season, but he's gotten off to a fantastic start, hitting .286/.362/.429 with four runs scored and eight RBI in 47 plate appearances since returning to the Angels' lineup earlier this month.”

Tonight was his 2nd HR of the season. He hit his 1st on the road in Minneapolis on 5/13.

Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk in the Padres' loss to the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Machado put the Padres on the board with an RBI single off Pirates' reliever Steven Brault in the third inning. It was his lone hit in four at-bats. He also struck out twice. The entire Padres' offense looked out of sorts, managing only eight hits combined, including only two extra-base hits, in this one. The 26-year-old superstar shortstop is hitting .268/.347/.464 with 23 runs scored, nine homers, 24 RBI and one steal in 190 plate appearances.

Who will break the news to this poor blurb writer that Manny isn't playing SS any more.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway told reporters on Wednesday that Edwin Diaz could be called on to get more than three outs now.

The Mets had been adamant that Diaz would only pitch an inning in each appearance. The Mets have said a lot of things. The bridget to get to the star closer has been an issue, so New York could call on the 25-year-old if/when the setup men struggle in the eighth inning. There's a long-term worry about overuse with Diaz, but the right-hander should get a fair share of four-plus out saves now.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports that the Angels will recall pitching prospect Jose Suarez to make his major league debut Sunday in Seattle.

Well which is it? Is he being recalled or is he making his MLB debut?

He could have been called up before and not played..

Possibly, but they have a habit of saying recalled for everyone, even if it is the player’s first call-up.

That’s because it’s the correct terminology. Anyone on the 40 man roster, that doesn’t make the opening day 25, is optioned to the minors. When needed on the MLB roster they are recalled

Wrong, you can’t be recalled if you’ve never been called up before. A player has to be in the majors, sent down to the minors, then called up again to be recalled. A first time call-up can’t be a recall.

Alex Gordon finished 3-for-5 with a homer against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Gordon's numbers are still propped up by a huge first two weeks -- he came into this one batting .250/.328/.430 over his previous 46 games -- but he's been a definite plus for the Royals this season. It'll be interesting to see if he's traded thus summer. He's at home in Kansas City and he has no-trade protection, but it might be nice to play for a contender in what might be his last real chance to contribute.

I guess that 5&10 rights are no longer a thing.
