Was Offered Edman for Haniger. Accept, Decline or Counter?

Recommended Posts

This trade was offered to me in a 10 team roto league with the traditional category (except we use saves + holds instead of saves). Should I accept? If not, any suggestions for a counter offer? Thanks for the help?

If you want more versatility then I would do it plus Haniger has injury concerns

It has more to do with me thinking that I'm light on SBs, but the position eligibility would certainly be a bonus. In theory going from Haniger to Edman would be a pretty big hr / rbi drop though....

Don't know your points structure, but in head-to-head points leagues Haniger > Edman. And looking at your roster, Edman is not an improvement for you at 2B or MI. I would decline.

Standard Roto Scoring. The team that finishes first in a category gets 10 points and the team that finishes last gets 1 point. It's not week to week or head to head either. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins. Also, Edman is OF and 3B eligible in this league (ESPN). Does that change your opinion?

I have both Edman & Haniger. Love Edman's start so far but Haniger has far more upside, especially when Kelenic joins the lineup.

Any suggestions for a counter offer? Both rosters are listed in my original post.

No. I'm bearish on Edman anyway, and that move would clearly weaken your OF slot. I would see how badly he wants Haniger by countering for Devers. He probably won't do it (I wouldn't) but the other trade is bad for you IMO.

Since he'll comfortable at 1st base, maybe you should buy low on Voit.

Maybe see what he thinks about Haniger, Votto, India for Voit, Edman, Lowe. I still like Haniger's upside. He was one of the premier outfielders in 2018. But Voit has a higher ceiling than Votto (at this point in his career) and Edman is likely to find more consistency than India. Lowe is just a throw-in. He's a bit too streaky to be a serious trade target.

Edman & Voit could plug into key positions so you aren't left with Votto/India at the moment.

Or more simply, Haniger & Votto for Voit & Edman.

Haniger is on fire. I wouldn't move him.

I get it, but the same could be said about Laureano a week ago. To your point about possibly targeting Voit, I don't think the other owner will be willing to sell him low. Definitely not Votto low. I just picked him up off waivers.

For what it's worth I have an offer on the table of Goldschmidt for Meadows to address my 1B situation. I'm leaning towards accepting...

NAH

Haniger is a proven 25 90 rbi guy

Career ops + 126

Edman has always been a part time player, maybe 15 SB

career ops+ 110

Haniger easy
