Skill-set. New-age NFL.

McVay gave up 2 extra 1sts for Stafford.

Shanahan gave up 2 extra 1sts for Lance.

New-age QB in new-age NFL.

Shanahan wants Trey Lance skill-set, not Mac Jones skill-set. Why is this so hard for you to see?

because Shanahan prefers an elite and accurate passer like he had with Matt Ryan in Atlanta.

Mac is a Matt Ryan and Matthew Stafford Clone, that’s what shanny wants in my opinion. Not a guy that hasn’t played football in years and has accuracy issues according to Kurt Warner.

Mac is Cam backwards  💀

No he doesn't, and you don't think so either. Mac is fine and accurate when he has his first read and 4 seconds to read the field. He even gets to his second read occasionally. But he crumbles un

if you are right, then SF will draft Mac. Interesting to see you come around so quickly. it must have become apparent to you how Trey Lance is nothing like Matthew Stafford.

Mac Jones and Stafford are nothing similar as QBs.

More similarities than Stafford and Lance.

Mac and Stafford are both immobile, tall pocket passers, elite accuracy, good at reading defense, make quick decisions, good at manipulating the pocket to make 2nd and 3rd reads and not taking off to run with the ball.

just like Matt Ryan too, who Kyle Shanahan had great success with while the OC for ATL during their Super Bowl run.

So much bickering over who gets to fail in San Francisco.

Btw I saw Mel Kiper mentioned, but... Well, you know, Mel Kiper.

saw Daniel Jeremiah mentioned too.

everyone has an opinion but unless you are in the Shanahan or Lynch family I doubt you have any real insight as to which way they are leaning.

It absolutely could be Lance--or Jones or Fields

I have no idea who it is and there are probably like five people who know

No.

Mac is Jared Goff.

Random question for @DerrickHenrysCleats and I promise I mean no ill will and enjoy your content.    However, is there a single former Tide player in the NFL you actually dislike?

TJ yeldon

wasted his potential to be a top notch change of pace back.

I kid around some but try to be as objective as possible but we are all human and have some biases.

If you hate HOF’ers and Super Bowl MVP’s then maybe you are right.

Thanks for the laugh.  Any in the last 50 years?

And hilariously enough, Namath and Stabler are 2 players who probably shouldn't be in the HoF.

You forgot the super bowl I and II MVP, and fellow HOF’er Bart Starr.

none in the last 50 years as you so astutely pointed out but we have only recently had any worthy candidates.

3 Super Bowl MVPs and HOF QBs, not sure another school has a history of better QBs than the school Mac is coming from.

Stafford is an athletic marvel with a cannon for an arm.  Not sure why he is comparable to Mac Jones.  That does not seem to work.

And I am not sure we know all that much about Mac's decision-making.  It was a weird year for CFB with the pandemic shortening the season and limiting everything.

Mac had an embarassment of riches around him.  Most every option available on each play probably would have worked out well.

Stafford is an athletic marvel? In what ways? He has a strong arm and is accurate and tough, he manipulates the pocket well to buy time to progress through his reads.

Staffords arm strength is  better than Macs but they are both accurate, both manipulate the pocket to get through their reads quickly, both get the ball in the hands of their playmakers. Neither of them will offer much in the form of rushing or scrambling.

again you bring up Mac having most every option available on every play, so did Joe Burrow at LSU in 2019 with Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Terrance Marshall, CEH, Thaddeus Moss, and several OL all in the NFL right now. You won’t address this but use the same argument against Mac to ding him somehow.

You really want to do a debate about Joe Burrow v. Mac Jones?  That is silly now and it is going to be even more ridiculous after this season.

And, in five years, more absurd yet when Mac Jones is a backup or out of the league.

Ok, you really need to stop right now with this. Mac Jones is an NFL Backup QB. Nothing more. In the NFL, his arm won't be able to stretch the field to open up the entire offense. College system QB.

Trey Lance is infinitely a better NFL QB prospect, it's not even remotely close whatsoever. That is why the 49ers gave up the farm for him.

You're delusional.
