Richard Rodriguez is walking out to left field to join the rest of the Pirates. Just received an ovation from a few teammates, including Sam Howard.

It was a DEFINITE win for the Twins. And a win "now" for TOR...I think in 2-3 years, TOR won't see this trade as a win though haha.

Yes they will.  How do you think teams fly flags?  Sitting on internet-touted prospects?  No way.  And if they can extend Berrios -- who they have all of next year anyway (he isn't a rental like Max) -- it would be a major win for the Jays.

Now I don't believe in blowing up a whole farm system to go after the flag but this was hardly that by any stretch of the imagination.  But you have to trade prospects for chips to go all in.  How do you think the teams that win these championship do it otherwise?  It is part of the reason you have prospects.

Also they have two top hitters in their farm system in Jordan Groshans and Orelvis Martinez plus a YOUNG loaded line-up already.  They need pitching.  Period.

Also maybe Austin-Martin isn't the be all and end all in prospects.  They have seen him in person and maybe they aren't in love with him as much as Fangraph Prospect Heads are.  Many prospects fail and he is nowhere as far along his career as the above two hitters.  Toronto will always see this trade as a good one.

Fingers crossed that this is true.

Brewers got a RP named John Curtiss from MIA, gave up a solid young catcher in Peyton Henry.

Curtiss at least has some solid numbers and years of control (plus options)...

This is about what I expected out of them at the deadline. Escobar was pretty big. They are good enough and they will need to keep their farm depth for future years.
