Selling High on Robbie Ray and get Trevor Rogers in Keeper?

Recommended Posts

I am in a keeper league and out of contention.  Its a points league where workhorse pitchers with a lot of Ks are at a premium.  We keep 10 players annually so you can really build a dynasty.  My team needs a bit of a rebuild and I've been offered Trevor Rogers who is 6 years younger.  Robbie Ray is only 29 though and may have 2-4 more very good years.  Any thoughts?

Comes down to the assets you have to rebuild. Does this league require contracts, straight keeper, draft pick trading? Rogers is good, but how much better over the next few years is he going to be. The jays spend money and Ray is a solid pitcher for the next few years, barring any injuries.

If your out of it and building for the future Rogers is definitely the guy I'd rather have going forward.  Ray has been phenomenal this year and the guy I'd rather have for the rest of this season but I think Rogers has a chance to break into that special SP category over the next few seasons.  Not to say this year is a fluke for Ray and he falls of the face of the planet but I think this is the best your ever going to get from Ray.

Ray owner here, short term he's the play, rebuild long term Rogers is the play. Honestly, I like both guys, but to me your question is pretty simple.

Perhaps ask for a little sweetener, I assume the guy targeting Ray is pushing for the playoffs. How important are the playoffs? See if you can get him to add a little nugget.
