No save, 7-3 game when he came in

You're right my bad, still killed ratios and won't be the closer too long...the Phillies curse

It’s Axe-Man time!

I'm torn between the baseball fan and decent human being in me rooting for him in his comeback, and the fantasy owner in me wanting him to fail just the right amount so that Devin Williams gets a super-easy save.

Alvardo might have already taken his job.  Kennedy was probably getting today off regardless, but coming off two straight terrible outings and given how impressive Alvardo looked today, Kennedy's hold on the job is razor thin at best.

Alvarado, the guy with a 16:15 k:bb ratio, 8.53 ERA, and 2.54 WHIP over his last 12.2 innings? That guy? Kennedy definitely isn’t elite but he should have plenty of leash now that Suarez is in the rotation and Alvarado won’t be the one putting the pressure on him. He has no clue where the ball is going when it leaves his hand.

Honestly a bit worried about him - not as a player but as a person

Hembree can't find the plate, walks the first two leading off the ninth, not a recipe for success. Brach warming up, and Givens looked good in the 8th. Hembree's got some leash, but the Reds are still in the WC picture and can't afford much patience. Polanco bombs a 3 run shot after Hembree gets a man, didn't look too sharp tonight.

How much more leash does he have? Four straight appearances with runs given up

Sooooo many closers available at the deadline for the Reds to make a play on, imagine where they would be not only at this point, but moving forward with a reliable stopper at the end..lol

They improved the pen, got Wilson and Cessa for nothing from the Yankees just so they could clear a spot and picked up Givens. They're way out in the division and need help to get the WC, they could have done worse.

Not much, he threw too many pitches tonight to get the chance tomorrow, and if Givens closes that one out they'll be co-heads.
