2021-2022 Top 50 ROTO rankings

Recommended Posts

I updated the top 24 list after reading people's arguments, so here's my thoughts on the top 50. Also made sure to type that this is for roto. So unlike h2h, drafting players a couple rounds early based solely on their punt builds is usually not the optimal strategy for roto. The rankings will be slightly different between the two. That being said I had a hard time deciding where to rank Zion and Fox.

1st Round

  1. Jokic
  2. Curry
  3. Harden
  4. Durant
  5. Towns
  6. Giannis
  7. Lillard
  8. Beal
  9. Tatum
  10. Anthony Davis
  11. PG13
  12. Doncic

    2nd Round
  13. Jimmy
  14. Embiid
  15. Adebayo
  16. Kyrie
  17. Vucevic
  18. VanVleet
  19. Sabonis
  20. Jrue
  21. MPJ
  22. Gobert
  23. Capela
  24. Myles

    3rd Round
  25. Trae
  26. Lebron
  27. Tobias
  28. CP3
  29. Porzingis
  30. OG
  31. Ayton
  32. Lamelo
  33. Jaylen
  34. Lavine
  35. Boucher
  36. Donovan Mitchell

    4th Round
  37. Fox
  38. Zion
  39. Middleton
  40. Gordon Hayward
  41. Randle
  42. SGA
  43. Draymond
  44. John Collins
  45. Richaun Holmes
  46. McCollum
  47. Rozier
  48. Brandon Ingram

    5th Round
  49. Bogdan Bogdanovic
  50. Mikal Bridges

Just missed the cut : Jonas, Christian Wood, Jaren Jackson Jr, Lowry, Covington

I'm gonna need to see one more duplicate performance season from Boucher before drafting him at that spot.

Hypocritical because I'm really high on LaMelo and no argument is gonna be made about his spot. Idk. I just don't trust Boucher yet. That's just me.

Boucher is high as heck

No Westbrook

Ya'll still drafting Zion that high?

Beal Top 10?

Honestly I totally forgot about Westbrook. I didn't even consider him. He's not someone I would ever draft but if I were to rank him he would be top 50 too.

Boucher I originally would've dropped about 10 spots in the late 40s, but I figured he would get more mins this season since Siakam is missing the first 2 months of the season and with Birch being paid backup center money. It makes sense to drop him to about 45 behind Holmes though since he's unproven, so just pretend he's 45 on this list.

Zion is a wild card because he's got crazy potential and has the ability to drastically improve in 1 offseason. So yes Zion was 68 overall, but he was was 192 overall the year before. He certainly has shown the ability already to make crazy jumps in value. He's another guy I wouldn't draft but if he were to continue to improve his ft% and assists like he did last season then he would def be top 50. I just didn't know where to put him in the top 50.

Beal is absolutely a 1st round guy, but whether he is top 10 tho is a real tough decision. I feel like 8-13 can easily be switched around so honestly I don't really care who complains about those spots.

Fair enough.

The only thing about Zion was that his first season he was injured only played 24 games. Last season he only missed 11. Also he is almost like a triple punt. I guy I’m drafting in the top 50 who doesn’t hardly block, poor FT shooter, 3 TO’s per game.

Well another thing to consider with him is he is 19 overall punting ft%. Even though I despise punting in roto, I know it is possible to win sometimes with it. You can look at that and consider punting, but you can also look at that and think if he were to get his ft% to around 74% (the same improvement he had last year), he's instantly top 50 based on last years numbers alone.

Is it an 8 or 9 cat list?
I mean - my question relates to the ones like Mikal Bridges, lower usage guys, more useful in 9 cat setups (Mikal IMO higher than fifth round).
On the other hand we have Westbrook, who I see a lock in top 50 eight cat, but not so sure when we count turnovers...

John Isaac should be on the list.

Yep. Klay Thompson too.

No to both. Klay likely won't be ready until December or January, and Isaac still doesn't have a timetable to return. Isaac should be closer to returning but both of these guys are coming off major injuries. They will be brought along slowly. Isaac has better shot at some value, but his team is completely different. In fact they really suck now. I wouldn't put him on a top 50 list due to all of that. If he also gets hurt again he will certainly be a shut down candidate since they suck so much.

As a Tatum owner from last season who drafted him at exactly that spot (while Kevin Durant was staring at me waiting to be picked up), I don't think he'll be in the top 12. Even with Jaylen out for a significant time, I just don't see him shaking off this "jump shooter" mentality which he didn't have prior to last season (which is painfully annoying to see). I'd easily draft PG13 and Doncic, Embiid (even with the injury risk) over Tatum. I'm also hoping nobody sees OG as a 3rd rounder as you did but thats just wishful thinking on my part (so I can get him again in my league for next season).

Like I said before I personally think 8-13 can be easily swapped around. It's a matter of preference, although I wouldn't put Doncic any higher than 12. Also I feel I put OG and Boucher up way too high. I was just expecting a boost for all Raptors players since Siakam is gonna be injured to start the year out. I initially thought he was out 2 months though, but it turns out it's only looking like it's going to be 1 month supposedly. In that case I'd drop OG to like 36th and Boucher to 46. Other than that I'm pretty satisfied with the list.

Tatum’s floor is number 10. He’s gonna really channel his inner Kobe this season. He’s their offense. Like literally.

In my new 14 team dynasty roto league Tatum was drafted 5th overall. And I wish I was drafting him...

Raptors fan here, Boucher is way too high. I know Siakam is out but Nurse doesn't like to play him extended minutes.

OG could be that high though. He just has to score more, which I dont see why Nurse wouldn't encourage since they need scoring.

To update this list I'd switch around Lamelo to 28 and CP3 to 31, OG 37, Porzingis 38, Westbrook 48, Gordon Hayward 49, and Boucher 50. Mikal would drop out of the top 50. Everyone else rated between those guys gets moved up a spot.

There's lots of talent in the 2nd round and there's plenty of good arguments to switch them around so it comes down to a matter of preference imo.

Lonzo ball got a real good shot at reaching top 50 status imo.

With Derozan there I no longer like his value or chances of cracking the top 50 since Derozan, Lavine, and Vucevic will be such usage hogs. However if he can bounce back in rebs and continue to improve in fg% then he is a lock for top 50. I don't expect his rebs to get over 5 and his fg% to get over 44% tho, so he will just miss the cut since I expect his assists and scoring to go down too.
